Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about Disc Golf Guru
What is Disc Golf Guru?
Disc Golf Guru is a free analytics platform that helps you understand your PDGA tournament performance. Search by PDGA number to see a player profile, recent events, and a featured event with Stats (donut charts), Scorecards (hole-by-hole and vs. field), and Compare (vs. another player in the same division). Player Stats line charts and Analytics (Beta) show how your stats change over time and which stats correlate most with your round rating.
Where does the data come from?
We show you what the PDGA has made available. All data comes from the PDGA—we do not collect or store your personal data. We use publicly available tournament results, round ratings, and scoring details (when provided by events) to calculate stats like C1X putting, fairway hit %, and scramble rate.
Do I need a PDGA number to use the site?
Yes. Disc Golf Guru is built around PDGA-sanctioned tournament play. You search for players by PDGA number or name, and we show stats and history based on their sanctioned events. If you only play casually and are not a PDGA member, we won’t have data for you yet.
How often is data updated?
We don’t run a sync or store data—we show you what the PDGA has made available. When you look something up, you see whatever the PDGA has published at that time. If a recent event isn’t there yet, it may not be published by the PDGA yet.
Why are some stats missing for my rounds?
Stats like C1X putting, fairway hit, and scramble rate depend on detailed scoring information (e.g., circle 1 vs circle 2 putts, lie position). Not all tournaments submit that level of detail to the PDGA. When they do, we show it; when they don’t, those stats won’t be available for that round.
What is the Compare tab?
On a featured event, the Compare tab lets you select another player in the same division and see side-by-side stats (e.g. C1X, C2, Fairway, Scramble) and strokes gained for that event. Use the dropdown to pick a competitor; the list shows place, player name, PDGA number, and score.
What is the Analytics (Beta) section?
Analytics shows how each stat correlates with your round rating (r) and how many rating points change per 1% change in that stat (pts per 1%). You need at least 10 enriched rounds; then use the "Rounds to use" selector (e.g. last 10 or all rounds) to choose how many rounds to include. Sort by correlation or slope to see which stats move most with your rating.
Is Disc Golf Guru free to use?
Yes. Disc Golf Guru is free to use. We don’t require an account to look up players or view stats. If that ever changes, we’ll communicate it clearly.
